Learn C++ the Modern Way: The Fundamentals

4 Jun , 2018

  • Understand spoken and written English
  • Basic Mathematics skills (arithmetic, binary numbers)
  • Enjoys technical challenges and is willing to learn
  • Access to a computer with a modern C++ compiler

This course will teach you how to program in the powerful and efficient C++ programming language. No previous experience of programming is needed.

It takes a completely different approach from other courses as it starts from first principles and teaches C++ from the outset. The course is based around the most modern features of the language, which make it easier to learn.

The course is fairly thorough; it is designed to give a good understanding of the language. It does not attempt to teach everything in a single course, as C++ is far too big for that, but it does cover more than enough to get you started with C++ programming and lays the foundation for learning the more advanced features of the language.

I would expect most students to take around two months to complete the course, based on watching one or two lectures a day and doing all the exercises for those lectures. Obviously, if you can devote more time to it and are able to absorb the material quickly, you could go much faster, although I don’t recommend rushing.

Who is the target audience?
  • Students who want to learn a programming language
  • Students who tried to learn C++ before but were unsuccessful
  • Students who have some knowledge of C++ and want a refresher course
  • Students who know another programming language and want to learn C++
  • Students who know C++ but are interested in a fresh approach which introduces modern features from the start
